Nimda

A combination of three terrible computer viruses, worm, virus, and trojan horse. Nimda stormed the internet in September 2001, more than 130,000 web servers and personal computers in the US were found attacked within half of a day, and similar to a number of predecessor viruses, Nimda slows down internet traffic, but not destroys files.

No surprise of the high spreading speed as Nimda can be transmitted in four different routes, by sending itself out to people’s email contacts; by breaking into web servers and infecting files all over the website; by spreading automatically across your network; and by parasitically infecting existing programs on your hard disk.
